Southampton Hospital Doctors
Recognized for Excellence
Southampton, New York -Southampton Hospital doctors Peter Michalos and Louis Avvento, have been named to the list of “best doctors” featured in the special June issue of New York Magazine. The 1,434 doctors listed represent about a quarter of the top 10% of the New York area physicians.
Dr. Michalos, a board certified Ophthalmologist with offices in Southampton and Manhattan, attended medical school at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and completed his residencies at St Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center and Columbia University Hospital. In addition to his practice in Southampton, Dr. Michalos is the Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthamology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
With offices in Riverhead and Southampton, Dr. Avvento is board certified in Medical Oncology, Hematolgy and Internal Medicine. After attending medical school at the University of Rome he completed his residencies at Jamaica Hospital and University Hospital at Stony Brook.
The “Best Doctors” list is compiled by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a New York research firm, who sends out 12,000 nomination forms to medical professionals in New York City, Westchester County, Long Island and portions of New Jersey and Connecticut.
